No feedback to user on what is going on between login and time when workspace is connected
Maybe this is a feature, I perceive it as a bug, though.
When I login to the VISPA server (as guest or as registered user), it
takes about 10 sec until the “VISPA Cluster” workspace appears in the
list of workspaces. In the meantime I see a white screen with the VISPA
logo. During this time there is no feedback on what is going on. I get
the impression that the login / setup procedure is already done and
start wondering what I should / could do next.
Once the workspace appears in the list, the examples extension opens
automatically. At this moment, it is clear what can be done.
I wish to have feedback during this dead time. Maybe some sort of non-intrusive (no need to press “ok” to get rid of it) but obvious message like
- “VISPA is setting up / looking for computing resources for you. This may take a few seconds.”
If possible, it would be even nicer (because it shows progress) to update that message with the current information. Something like:
- “VISPA is setting up / looking for computing resources for you. This may take a few seconds: \nFound workspace location.”
- “VISPA is setting up / looking for computing resources for you. This may take a few seconds: \nConnecting to workspace…”
- “VISPA is setting up / looking for computing resources for you. This may take a few seconds: \nWaiting for response from workspace…”
- “VISPA is setting up / looking for computing resources for you. This may take a few seconds: \nDone.”
