Feature Requests: QR / barcode for sorting pages and mapping them to students

Hi @rohlfing,

At ACS we had a call today to discuss our approach for exams and reviews in the current semester. During this call an idea emerged to speed-up and simplify the scanning procedure:

We thought about adding a little personalized QR code to each exam sheet. This QR code would include:

  • Exam identifier
  • Immatricalation number
  • Page number

We would include these QR codes via a LaTex macro.

Having such QR codes identifying each page of an exam to a specific student and exam gives us a few interesting possibilities:

  • We can scan everything in a single run. Even multiple exams.
  • Page ordering does not matter as it can be resorted in the script. We dont need to staple the exams anymore. Students can turn in their exams out of order
  • We dont need to read matriculation numbers by hand for mailing the exams.

Do you have any ideas on this?

Cheers, Steffen
