Extension check in file selector

When opening files in the browser that do not have any extensions, a confirm window shows up asking if the file should be opened anyway.
It would be nice, if this confirmation could also be implemented in the file selector.

(So far, the extension is checked by the editor instance when opening a new file with the selector. But this is rather inconsistent.)
